Clients can use case-specific query logic into the Vertica database for fully parallel execution
Vertica, an HP Company, has released the latest version of the Vertica Analytics Platform, which the company says offers improved flexibility and real-time performance for customers' most demanding business intelligence and analytic workloads.
The new version, Vertica 5.0, analyses data on a massive scale, with several customers analysing more than a petabyte of data in real time.
Vertica 5.0 features a software development kit (SDK) that provides the ability to customise and insert customer- and use case-specific query logic into the Vertica database for fully parallel execution to enable users analyse and manage their business-critical information.
The latest version features enhanced native SQL in-database analytics, which include geospatial, event-series pattern matching, event-series joins, and advanced aggregate statistical and regression.
Vertica 5.0 delivers performance enhancements in areas such as subqueries, database statistics, lifecycle management, query optimisation, data resegmentation and join filtering, the company said.
While providing performance advantages as data replicas Vertica 5.0 delivers enhanced elasticity features that enable dynamic expansion and contraction of clusters over 20x faster in every deployment scenario, allowing users to quickly create additional capacity as needed.
Full cluster cloning capabilities of Vertica 5.0 for on-demand creation of Vertica databases for any workload with auto-sizing and auto-tuning across different topologies and physical designs enables users to quickly spin off subsets of their databases for analytical sandboxes.
Clients can download new analytics tool directly from Vertica website, and will soon be available on the HP Vertica Analytics System.
