Karmasphere collaborates with IBM in data analytics

CBR Staff Writer Published 23 May 2011

Helps clients integrate and analyse traditional business data with growing volume of unstructured data

Karmasphere, a data analytics company, has integrated its Big Data Analytics software including Studio for developers and Analyst for data and business analysts with IBM's BigInsights software.

The collaboration allows both the companies clients to integrate and analyse structured data found in databases along with unstructured data - such as text, video, audio, images, social media and click streams - without changing the native format of the data.

IBM information management business development vice-president Rob Thomas said Karmasphere is a key partner in IBM's Big Data ecosystem that supports developers, analysts and business users with unprecedented ease-of-use for analysing data on Hadoop.

"IBM's long standing commitment to the open community and full embrace of Hadoop will help Karmasphere deliver a new class of Big Data applications for IBM software," Thomas said.

Karmasphere CEO Gail Ennis said clients are looking for help to manage and integrate the volume, variety and velocity of Big Data across new and existing IT infrastructures.

Ennis said, "The combination of IBM and Karmasphere software can help clients unlock more value from their data assets using Hadoop-based analytics to uncover new trends and drive business growth."
