Teradata unveils new disaster recovery product

An off-site facility to tackle disaster recovery panic

Teradata has introduced its Disaster Recovery Solution which reportedly helps tackling disaster recovery panic.

The company said that the new offering was designed for chief technology officers who never wanted to create an in-house disaster recovery product yet had to plan for surviving catastrophic events. Those businesses, without a disaster recovery plan in place, are at risk of business failure, if their companies experience a disaster.

Randy Lea, vice president of products and services marketing at Teradata, said: “To keep costs low, Teradata customers can tailor the level of assistance needed to meet the specific demands of their enterprise, and also have access to the Teradata Recovery Centers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Customers bring knowledge of their data and applications and Teradata brings the expertise and experience in disaster recovery. Working together, we can help a customer build a better and less expensive disaster recovery solution than what they can build on their own.”

The company said that the Teradata team, who conducts monthly simulations, provides guidance on developing and updating recovery plans, training and yearly testing.

To simplify the process for chief technology officers, the new product reportedly offers customers an off-site facility that includes equipment, software licenses, and database administrators. It reportedly includes the costs for cooling, powering and maintaining the data warehouses.
